Ganga Maharani Ka Mandira, a temple in Bharatpur city of Rajasthan, is said to have taken 90 years to build. This temple is located in front of the Bharatpur Fort's main entrance. The architecture of the temple is made on seeing it. The special thing is that there is a statue of Ganga riding a crocodile inside the temple.

Maharaja Balwant Singh, the Jat lord of Bharatpur, began work on this shrine in 1845. Up to the rule of the five kings, this temple's construction was ongoing. Its construction was completed during the reign of Maharaja Brajendra Singh.

King Bhagirath's Statue: Built Near the Ganga

The statue of Ganga Maa is made of marble. Next to him is a four feet tall statue of King Bhagirath, who is saluting Mother Ganga. The idol of Ganga Maa was made by a Muslim sculptor. The building of Ganga Maa Mandir is two-storied. There are wonderful carvings on the walls.

  1. Stones were brought from Banshi Paharpur in Bharatpur district for the construction of this Badami colored temple.
  2. In terms of architecture, a combination of Mughal, Rajput and South Indian styles is seen in this temple.
  3. The temple is spread over an area of ​​about one and a half acres.
