Om Banna Temple in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, is known as “Bullet Baba’s temple”. This shrine is dedicated not to a deity but to a man—Om Singh Rathore, fondly called Om Banna. He loved his Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle. On May 5, 1988, he lost complete control and his bike crashed into a tree badly. Although the motorcycle slid into a neighbouring ditch, Om Banna died on the spot. The next morning after the accident, local police transported the motorcycle to a nearby police station. But the bike mysteriously vanished from the station and was spotted at the incident scene.
The local populace says that it is a miracle. People even believe that even after his death, Om Banna Khelps uneasy, passers-by. Tourists pass by the stop for a while to bow their heads at Bullet Baba’s feet.
The bike was impounded and taken to the police station, only to return to the accident spot in the dark of the night this place. Legend has it that once a simpleton from a neighbouring village near Jodhpur, Om Banna, was cruising on his Bullet, and he met with an accident between Jodhpur and Nagaur.
