Fact About Stepwell
- According to history, Queen Tanwar (Tur Rani) of Maharaja Abhay Singh of Jodhpur had got Jhalra made in 1740, due to which it got the name Turji Ka Jhalra. Mainly women used to use the water of Jhalra because women were the only ones who could fetch and collect water.
- For many years, this jhalra has been submerged in deep water. 200 feet deep unmatched heritage has come to the fore from the restoration. This Jodhpur Ghatu is crafted from red stone. It has intricate carvings of gracefully dancing elephants, medieval lions and cows main source of water taps
