Bhagsunath Temple, McLeodganj

This ancient Shiva Temple is associated with a mythological legend and is believed to have been built by King Bhagsu. As per legend, Nag Devta, the snake God, was drawn into the battle with the regional ruler Bhagsu, after the king stole water from the sacred Nag Dal Lake. The shrine was built by King Bhagsu after seeking forgiveness from the Snake God.Watching, like the mountains overhead, over this noisiest efflorescence of McLeodganj, knowing that it is only a matter of time until this too is absorbed into its ancient past.The temple also has a small pond, where you can take a refreshing dip. After taking blessings of the presiding deity, you can head over to the beautiful waterfall for some precious moments of peace and quiet.
