When and Where is Teej Celebrated? 

Month:  July/August (during Monsoon)

Teej  is a traditional Rajasthan Festival  celebrated on the third day of the Shukla Paksha ( full Moon) in the month of July and August. There are three types of Teej - Haryali Teej, Kajari Teej and Hartalika Teej.

Jaipur Teej celebration Dates 2025-

In the month of July 2025, Hariyali Teej will be held on 27th to 28th July. In August 2025, Kajari Teej will be held on 12th August and Hartalika Teej will be held on 26th August 2025.

Major Venues for Teej Celebrations: City palace, Old City Jaipur, Tripolia Gate 

The Teej Mata Parade starts from Zanani Deodhi of the City Palace with great pomp and show, moving through Tripolia Gate, Chhoti Chaupar and through the bustling streets of old Jaipur area which includes Gangauri Bazaar to Paundarik Park (Talkatora Lake). 

Teej Festival Highlights in Jaipur 

  1. Grand Teej Procession with decorated idols and Elephants: The charm of the Teej festival is the Teej Mata Procession which shows the Teej Mata ( Goddess Parvati) idol with decorated idols  in a palanquin. The royal parade includes dressed up elephants, camels and horses. 
  2. Traditional Rajasthani Music and Dance performance: Without music and dance, we cannot imagine Teej in Jaipur. Women perform the Ghoomar and Kalbelia dance. Dhol, Shehnai and Matki (Pot) singers fill the streets with their tunes.

  3. Local sweets-
  • Ghewar- It is a must try sweet during Teej in Jaipur. It is a wax grid shaped sweet dipped in sugar syrup. You will get the best Ghewar in Jaipur only during Monsoon. 
  • Feeni-  Feeni is a vermicelli-like dessert served with Rabri. It  is also offered as prasad in temples during Teej.
