Agra is a city that offers a glimpse into the golden age of beauty. The countless monuments strewn across Agra attest to the city’s rich heritage. The word “Agravana,” which means “heaven” in Sanskrit, is used to describe the city in the epic Mahabharata, which has the city’s earliest recorded reference. Two hundred thirty-three (233) one-way kilometers separate Delhi and Agra. Road travel from Delhi to Agra takes 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic. We can cover Delhi to Agra in one day.

Taj Mahal

Agra is home to the Taj Mahal, one of the most beautiful monuments in the world. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in 1631 as a tribute to his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died while giving birth to their 14th child. Every year, millions of visitors from India and across the globe pass through the magnificent gates to catch a glimpse of this breathtaking monument. Nearly no one leaves the Taj Mahal monument feeling awed or dissatisfied by the Taj’s majesty. White marble was transported from Makrana in Rajasthan and used to build the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal was constructed over 17 years by over 20,000 workers from India and Central Asia.

The tomb is rectangular in shape and has a large doorway with an arch and alcoves on either side. Four 40-meter-high minarets adorn the burial platform’s corners. They used thousands of semiprecious stones in the Taj’s flower-carved inlay.

The Four Taj has striking vaulted arches with Quranic verses inscribed in pietra dura scrollwork. Four little domes were recycled to cap off the entire building. It concluded by 1653 AD. The Taj Mahal is one of the most popular tourist destinations among the visitors on our one-day Agra trip from Delhi. Its exterior is impressive, but its interior is just as stunning, adorned with exquisite art and crafted meticulously.

The ideal times to visit the Taj Mahal are at sunrise and dusk when the sunlight enhances the Taj Mahal’s magnificence. All five evenings surrounding the full moon are also open for tours of the Taj Mahal.

The Red Fort of Agra:

Our next stop on our day tour to Agra is Lal Qila, often referred to as the Red Fort of Agra. On the right bank of the Yamuna River in Agra, there is a sizable fort called the Agra Fort. The Taj Mahal is about 2.5 kilometres away from this massive fort. Agra Fort served as the prime residence of the Mughals until 1638, after which New Delhi became the capital. Agra Fort has intricately decorated buildings and is one of the most famous monuments built by the Mughals. A 70-foot-tall wall encloses the sprawling three-kilometre-long Red Fort in Agra.

Many tall walls fringe the fort, composed of red sandstone in all directions. On each of the fort’s four flanks are its four major gates. This massive structure, made entirely of red sandstone, towers over the lovely city of Agra. The most magnificently constructed Pearl Mosque, Diwan-i I Khas, Diwan-i I Aam, Musamman Burj, Sheesh Mahal, Moti Masjid, Nagina Masjid, and Jahangiri Mahal are all located inside the fort’s boundaries.

Agra is a one-day trip from Delhi that allows you to enjoy the food after visiting the Red Fort. Agra, known for its spicy chaat and delectable desserts, offers various cuisines.

Mehtab Bagh:

Mahtab Bagh, which is now fully operational, offers splendid views of the enormous mausoleum. The gardens of the Taj Mahal and Mehtab Bagh are precisely aligned, and the aspect of the Taj from the fountain in front of the entrance gate is beautiful. Mehtab Bagh was the eleventh and last park built by Emperor Babur on the east side of the Yamuna. It took a very long time before the Taj began construction.
