1 Jaisalmer fort: Jaisalmer’s royal sandstone Fort, resembling the look of a massive sandcastle coming out from the desert, is considered as the focal point for the city. It was in the year 1156 when the fort was built by then ruler Jaisal of Rajput Gharana and on the same year the city Jaisalmer was also born. It is known as the largest living fort based out in India. The palace remains open to the visitors, against a fee, and guided audio tours are also there.

2 Patwaon ki haveli: The royal city of Jaisalmer attracts many visitors to explore  the fairytale architecture of its magnificently beautiful historic havelis. One of the most important and stunningly beautiful haveli of the city is Patwaon ki haveli. This Haveli was Built by a group of 5 Jain brothers. It looks amazingly impressive right from the outside, because of its breathtaking and intricate stonework. To major sections of this haveli is made available for the visitors to explore.

3 Gadsisar lake: Gadsisar Lake, also known as Gadisar Lake, is basically a big artificial reservoir which was constructed by Maharawal Gadsi Singh during the 14th century period. Till 1965 it was the only source of water for the whole city. The beauty of the lake gets a new dimension because of the surrounding many small shrines and temples. Boats are made available for the tourists on hire to explore the complete beauty of this lake.

4 Sam Sand dunes: It is must for the visitors to visit the famous and picturesque Sam Sand Dunes, or else the trip will remain incomplete. Sam Sand dunes are around 50 minutes drive from the western side of Jaisalmer. It is best to visit this place, at sunset time. One can enjoy camel rides and watch the cultural performances which create a beautiful, royal carnival atmosphere.

5: Vyas chatri: Since childhood we grow up hearing the stories of Mahabharata and Vyas Chhatri, is the place where this epic was authored by sage Vyasa. It is located in the northern edge of the Jaisalmer fort. Now this is one of the haunting places of the city which is now used for doing cremation of notable Pushkarana Brahmins. You can visit this place to watch spectacular sunsets.
