Forecast for the Christmas travel weather includes rain, snow and storms in some of the areas in the United States of America. 

Christmas is around here, and a lot of Americans have geared up themselves for travelling by vehicle or plane for the next few days. The real question is what the weather going to be like for the next days to come and how is it going to impact the holiday plans of the Americans? 

The locals of the Central and western U.S. may witness some travel delays because of the bad weather for the days leading towards Christmas, forecasters emphasised. 

The Weather.Com meteorologist mentioned that the bulk of the rain and snow can travel in the central and western states of the USA  from Christmas Eve to Sunday. 

 

Unfavourable Weather Conditions in the West. 

Heavy rain is forecasted throughout Southern California this Thursday, which is most probably going to affect travel in and around Los Angeles and San Diego, as mentioned by the National Weather Service. Multiple areas are going to witness the sight of flash flooding in the canyon, gullies and there would be burn scars on the most vulnerable areas. Additionally, a lot of streams may flood, which may affect larger rivers. 

From Friday through Saturday, the rain will entice South California and gradually, the storm will move to the Desert Southwest, Phoenix, likely. It will receive more than an inch of rain on Friday, for instance, affecting air and ground travel, as per the reports of the weather service. 

The Pacific Northwest will also witness an equal share of the weather distress on Friday as the rain is forecasted along the coast and there would be several inches of snowfall in the Cascades.  The weather service in Seattle also advised that anyone who has travelled on their mind from Friday to Saturday should keep a heads up for the latest forecast updates. 

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, a lot of Far West areas will see normal weather.

 

Central US Storm

AccuWeather senior meteorologist Heather Zehr mentioned that a period of rainy weather will go through the Southern Plains from Thursday into Friday, bringing heavy rain to cities like Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Houston till the weekend.

Zehr predicted that over the weekend, there is going to be additional rain in the United States Central, "After a short break, there would be another round of potentially disruptive rain which could go on till the weekend." And, in some of the areas, this rain may continue until Christmas Day. 

Most likely snowfalls will cause travel troubles in the Northern Rockies and Northern Plains by the weekend. As per AccuWeather, a band of heavy snow may cross several important intercourse routes in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and the Dakotas. 

All Harmony in the East till Christmas 

The condition would be fairly good for the travellers on Thursday and Friday, because of the high pressure promoting the calm and quiet weather throughout most of the East Coast, predicted AccuWeather. The key travel spots in the East are Washington, D.C., New York City, Boston and Atlanta, which face less number of weather-related delays or cancellations. 

The calm weather in the East is anticipated through the weekend before becoming less favourable on Christmas Day. "Till Christmas, the wet weather will get closer to the East of the US, mainly the Southeast States, Dolce mentioned. "Henceforth, a storm system can possess weather-related travel aches to much of the East, days led by Christmas, however, there are still  few uncertainties"
