Exotic luxury at Bora Bora

People who are unfamiliar with exotic islands and have no idea where French Polynesia is located hear the name "Bora Bora" and immediately associate it with an exotic vacation on a magical island. Bora Bora is the most famous and popular island in French Polynesia. The island is famous for its incredible hotels, which feature overwater cabins.

As you can see from the map, it is an island just a few kilometers long surrounded by a coral reef and smaller islands along which most of the hotels and airports have been built. The body of water between the reef and the main island is a year-round tranquil lagoon. The lagoon water has an unusual turquoise color.

All this beauty is surrounded by a landscape of green mountains with rich tropical vegetation. The highest mountain on the island, "Mount Otemanu", has a unique appearance with two prominent green peaks and is seen from afar across the entire island. It is no wonder that this magical island has been dubbed the "pearl of the Pacific".

This island has been voted many times by famous travel magazines as the most famous resort in the world and the best tropical island in the world. It's important to point out that Bora Bora is expensive: accommodation, food, and travel to the island are all expensive compared to many destinations around the world, but it's certainly worth it.

Of all the hotels, the roofs of the huts are made of dried leaves that resemble the straw of a pandan plant. It is a very common plant in French Polynesia and very useful. In the past, the pineapple plant was used in the construction of canoes. All the tour operators speak excellent English and so it is easy and friendly to get around Bora Bora without speaking a word of French, the official language of these islands.

The weather on the island is the most perfect of the year and there is no season that is not suitable for a visit and vacation there. The weather is tropical but trade winds are cool and temperatures are moderate. Average daytime temperatures range from 28 C in "cool" months to over 31 C in warmer months, while nighttime temperatures range between 22-24 C. Sea temperature is 27-29 C. From May 11 to April are the hottest, wettest and wettest months. the wettest months, especially January to February, while from May to October there is little rain and less humid weather but stronger winds. This is a great destination for honeymoons, golden anniversaries, or simply a romantic vacation at the end of the world.

Bora Bora is an island in the Society archipelago chain of French Polynesia. Because it is a relatively small island, there is no international airport, only a local airport between the islands of the country. You have to get to Tahiti, the largest and most populous island in French Polynesia, and from there take a 45-minute flight on "Air Tahiti" to Bora Bora. Even the Bora Bora airport is on a small island (not on the main Bora Bora island) and from there you can take boats to different hotels. Larger hotels have a private boat service from the airport directly to the hotel. The airport offers a free transfer by big boat to the main village of Vaitape, from where you can catch a taxi to any hotel on the big main island. All hotels have white sandy beaches with golden sands. Bora Bora is one of the oldest islands in the island chain and is therefore rich in beautiful sandy beaches. Each of the main resorts looks like a picturesque postcard with a warm welcome that includes a necklace of fragrant flowers and natural tropical juices, you will feel like you have stepped foot in paradise.

What to do in Bora Bora?

For many people, a vacation in Bora Bora is simply relaxing on the beach, enjoying the hotel, and getting well-deserved rest. However, if you want to get out and explore this amazing atoll, there are plenty of fun activities on offer.

Take a helicopter

Helicopter rides are a great way to get a great view of Bora Bora without having to scramble for a window seat. You can choose between two options to visit the Shades of Blue and the Heart of Tubuai. I think the Shades of Blue tour gives you the best view of the perfectly clear lagoon, while the Heart of Tupuai reveals the breathtaking Tupuai Island. Near Bora Bora, Tupuai is beautifully formed into a heart, adding an extra layer of romance. We can book either of these tours as part of your stay - just ask us for advice.

Standing paddle

The calm, blue waters of the Bora Bora lagoon are ideal for stand-up paddleboarding. If you've never tried stand-up paddleboarding before, there's no better place to learn. Swim through the crystal clear lagoon, watch dozens of tropical fish scurry beneath you and soak up the scenery. It's a great way to explore and a peaceful way to spend an afternoon.
