Dedicate a six-day plan for a complete tour of Delhi - Shimla - Manali. Starting from the nation's capital, drive up to Shimla and stay there for a day. The next day trip drives up to Manali. Dedicate a day to see Rohtang pass. The local sightseeing and shopping at Manali will take another day. Drive down to Delhi from Manali through is about 570 km via NH44. The trip is an ideal mix for the adventure as well as leisure tourists.
Day 1 – Take the route through NH44 or NH5 to drive upto Shimla from Delhi. It takes about 9 hours of drive time to reach Shimla from New Delhi. Take the day rest and loiter around the nearby roads of the Shimla hotel in the evening. Once you have reached Shimla, head straight to The Mall, which is the main street in Shimla.
Day 2 – After taking breakfast, visit the Summer hill to see the majestic sunrise. About 5 km from the ridge, it offers a breathtaking top view of the city. The Summer hill is also a part of the 7 hills that make Shimla.
Take a stroll through the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, which is a magnificent example of British architectural design. Next stop is to visit Annandale which is approximately 3 kilometers away from the Ridge and is a mini golf course. The Chadwick falls and the Naldehra and Shaily Peak are other places to see.
Take overnight stay at Shimla.
Day 3 – After breakfast, drive up to Manali. It takes about 7 hours from Shimla to drive up through NH205 and NH3. Night stay at Manali hotel.
Day 4 - About 2 hours drive from Manali, Rohtang Pass is on the highway to Keylong, Leh. It is 51.4 km from Manali and located on Manali Keylong Highway. It lies between the twin valley of Lahaul and Spiti. Sonapani Glacier and a small lake (Dashahr) are located opposite and left to Rohtang respectively. Return to Manali and night stay at hotel.
Day 5 - See Hadimba Temple Manali which is covered by Cedar forests at its foothills. The natural wonder called Vashisht hot water springs is frequently visited by tourists. Rehala Falls is about 16km from the town. Gadhan Thekchholing Gompa or commonly referred to as the Manali Gompa is the other tourist place of interest. Malana Village and Raghunath Temple are for the leisure tourists. For adventure tourists, there are options for biking, trekking, rafting, hiking and paragliding.
Day 6 – Take breakfast and drive down to Delhi via. Jammu - Delhi road. About 537.3 km distance between the two cities, it takes about 12 hours of drive.
