Chamba Sightseeing Places
A Trip to Chamba can make you Forget all your Worries
Have you always secretly harboured a longing to visit the magnificent Himalayan Ranges? Well, you have a chance to do so now. Just book your trip to the magnificent town of Chamba as soon as possible. Nestling in the arms of the Western Himalayas, the town offers a splendid view of three snowy mountains. They are the Dauladhar (outer range), Pir Panjal (middle range) and the Zanskar (inner range). The town itself reposes magnificently on a plateau overlooking the valley of the river Ravi.
You may not like the idea of visiting temples after travelling so far to be with Mother Nature. However, do include these two architectural marvels in your itinerary. One of them is the Lakshmi Narayan Temple, which displays a superb marble idol of Lord Vishnu in the central area. The smaller idols, especially those of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, are stunning examples of skilled sculpture too. What is truly amazing about this place is that the internal atmosphere is eternally pleasant, regardless of whatever the weather is like outside. Another temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu displays a bronze idol riding a chariot drawn by six horses. Clothed in saffron, the idol is adorned with every imaginable manner of jewellery. This is the Hariraya temple, built during the 11th century. The construction is a visual treat for the eyes.
Do visit the Bhuri Singh museum while you are here. Original pages from the Indian epics and Hindu scriptures, coins and paintings from the past, etc, are bound to delight you. In your spare time, take trips to the tranquil lakes surrounded by mountains. Soak in the atmosphere, as you forget the real world that you have left behind. Finally, before leaving Chamba, pick up some artistically designed handicrafts, metal artefacts, Kangra and Chamba paintings, shawls, footwear, etc.
