What is Patwon ki Haveli?
History of Patwon ki Haveli
More than 200 years ago, a Kothari family left Jaisalmer to make their fortunes elsewhere. Over a period, this family became so wealthy that the king of Jaisalmer invited itto the city and requested it to bridge the kingdom's deficit.
The Kotharis later built five mansions within the Jaisalmer fort and these buildings are now known as Patwon ki Haveli. The word 'Patwa' means ' an important person.'
