Safdarjung Tomb is the final enclosed garden tomb in Delhi, following in the footsteps of Humayun's Tomb, although on a much smaller scale. In 1753, the Maratha’s pushed out the Mughal from delhi. He died not long after, in 1754. Following his father's death, his son, Nawab Shujaud Daula, appealed with the Mughal Emperor to allow him to build a tomb for his father in Delhi. He then constructed the mausoleum, which had been designed by an Abyssinian architect.
