Built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan as a memorial to his beloved wife Mumtaz, visiting this World's wonder is in itself a memorable experience. Build to create an archaeological history; it will take more than three hours to roam the entire campus. It is open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and is closed on Friday.
The Mughal Emperor Akbar commissioned the construction of the Agra Fort in 1666, A.D. Its enchanting history with regal exteriors and majestic interior architecture is proves the elegance. Diwan-I-Am, Diwan-I-Khaas, Musamman Burj are some of its major buildings not to be missed. It is also open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and remains closed on Friday. It will take more than one hour to get around the entire fort and know its history in brief.
The red Sandstone City, Fatehpur Sikri was once the capital of the Mughal emperor for a brief period of time. Built in the in the late 16th century, it has the Indo-Islamic style of architecture which brings life to history. Feel the grandeur of the Mughal era at Fatehpur Sikri. Its suggested duration for the tour would take an hour approximately.
Tomb of Akbar
Sikandra fort is also known as mausoleum of Akbar is yet another architecture which features the blend of Hindu, Islamic, Jain and Christian theme. Named after ruler of Delhi Sikandar lodhi, it was built by Emperor Akbar and should not take more than 40 minutes to complete the trip. This is also closed on Friday.
Note: After visting Taj Mahal, it is adviseable to complete your lunch. There are no restaurants on the Yamuna Expressway except the snack outlets near the toll plazas.
